To
the Point: Law firm works with the Arc of New Jersey
to help siblings plan for the future of a brother
or sister with disabilities, and offers no cost booklet
and expert speakers for parent groups.
Lawrenceville,
NJ - Hinkle & Fingles, Attorneys at Law, has partnered
with the Arc of New Jersey, the state’s largest
disability advocacy organization, to help adult siblings
caring for a brother or sister with disabilities.
The
Arc of New Jersey is heading up a comprehensive education
outreach project designed to help individuals more
easily assume the fiduciary and decision-making responsibilities
associated with caring for an adult sibling with disabilities.
To support this effort, Hinkle and Fingles attorneys
Ira M. Fingles, Esq., and S. Paul Prior, Esq., co-authored
a unique booklet, “Legal Considerations in Planning
for Individuals with Disabilities: What Siblings Need
to Know.” Lectures at local chapters of the
Arc are planned on the same topic.
As
the sibling of a brother with autism, Prior knows
first hand how difficult it can be to make decisions
on behalf of a loved one. “This booklet and
lecture series will help make the complex process
more understandable,” said Prior.
Fingles,
who also has a sibling with disabilities, has dedicated
his legal career to disability law. He is a partner
at Hinkle and Fingles, a multi-state practice with
offices in Lawrenceville, Florham Park and Marlton,
New Jersey, and in Pennsylvania, in Yardley and Plymouth
Meeting.
Last
fall, Hinkle and Fingles partner Herbert D. Hinkle
was honored by the Arc of New Jersey with the Arc’s
President’s Award for his outstanding volunteer
service and lifelong commitment to people with disabilities
and their families.
The
firm’s attorneys Herbert D. Hinkle, Esq., Ira
M. Fingles, Esq., S. Paul Prior, Esq., and Valerie
A. Powers Smith, Esq., are available to speak at no
charge to groups on a wide range of legal topics effecting
those with a disability. In addition, the firm is
offering single copies of the 20 page sibling booklet
at no cost.
For
