To the Point: Disability Rights Attorney Appointed
to Board of Directors of Disability Organization.
Yardley, P.A. - Valerie A. Powers Smith, Esq., has
been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Arc
of Bucks County. The all volunteer board meets monthly
to plan advocacy and outreach activities on behalf
of people with developmental disabilities. They are
affiliated with the Arc of Pennsylvania and the Arc
US.
The
organization provides information, referral, advocacy,
and support to individuals with mental retardation
and thier families throughout the Bucks County region.
According
the the Executive Director, Suzanne O’Mullan,
the mission of the Arc of Bucks County is to encourage
and support the inclusion of people with cognitive
disabilities in their community through education
of all citizens.
A
resident of Sellersville, Pennsylvania, Ms. Powers
Smith is an attorney in private practice with Hinkle
& Fingles, Attorneys at Law. The firm maintains
a multi-state practice, with offices in Pennsylvania
in Yardley and Plymouth Meeting, and in New Jersey,
in Lawrenceville, Marlton and Florham Park. Powers
Smith has dedicated her legal career to representing
and promoting the rights of individuals with disabilities
and has concentrated her work in the area of health
care law. She is the former Coordinator of the New
Jersey Health Care Consumer Assistance Program. She
holds a JD from Widener University School of Law and
is a member of the New Jersey and Pennsylvania bars.
